The Cottages started a program several years ago called, “Never Too Old To Dream”. Through this program, our team members find out what the residents’ hobbies and dreams are, and then look for ways to fulfill them. As we age, we often put our dreams on the back burner. However, The Cottages always wants our residents to keep dreaming because we believe that you are never too old to dream!
The Cottages and Dream Flights Team Up To Honor Our Veterans
For the past couple of years, The Cottages has teamed up with Dream Flights to fulfill several of the veteran residents’ wishes to take flight to the open skies. Dream Flights is dedicated to honoring military veterans and seniors with the adventure of a lifetime by providing a flight in a Boeing Stearman biplane. These planes were used to train pilots in the 1930s and 40s. As they make these heroes’ wishes come true, Dream Flights collects, preserves, and shares our veteran’s stories. Those stories of how they survived through times of great strife remind us of our shared humanity, our connection to each other, and the value of listening.
This year, four veterans who reside at The Cottages took flight in the Boeing Stearman biplane at the Emmett airport. It was a beautiful, sunny day. The festivities started with the singing of our national anthem. Certificates of honor were presented to each individual. Then, one by one, they got into the cockpit and flew high into the blue sky. All in attendance were smiling ear to ear as lifelong memories were made. One of the veterans, Dan, said it was an unforgettable, amazing experience.

Keep Dreaming, Keep Achieving
This and many other dreams have been fulfilled through The Cottages’ “Never Too Old To Dream” program. From residents going to an Elton John concert, to zip lining, to flying in a 1930s airplane, they are proof that if you can dream it, they will go to great lengths to make it happen.
