The month of June holds a special place in The Cottages heart because it is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month. The Cottages has 9 locations across Idaho that specialize in Memory Care. Memory Care is a specialized type of care for the elderly that have some form of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

The Cottages takes great pride in being able to care for those who live in our Memory Care homes. Each caregiver receives specific training on how to best care for individuals who have dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Every person, from our caregivers to accountants, participate in The Cottages New Employee Orientation training. During the employee orientation, each employee goes through a Dementia Sensory Course. Part of this course helps them experience, for a few minutes, what it would be like to walk in the shoes of an individual who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.

We truly care about our residents and that is why we take extra steps to ensure we can properly care for them and provide life enriching activities. Our mission statement is, “We Treat People Right“, and we live it!

View the following video to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and the lives that are affected by it every day.
